ATIV is a small editorial site that compares software for creators and productive teams. We publish short lists on purpose: the best AI writing tools for people who publish every week, the video tools that actually suit short-form work, the note-taking apps a one-person business can run on. If a category needs fifty entries to be honest, it probably is not a category yet — it is a directory, and directories are a different (and less useful) product.
The site exists because most comparison pages are written backwards: a list assembled from vendor marketing, affiliate payouts quietly deciding the order, and scores clustered between 9.4 and 9.9 so nobody involved has to make a decision. We think a recommendation is only worth reading if it can also say no — this one is expensive, that one is not for beginners, the free tier on the third one is a demo in disguise. Those sentences are the product.
ATIV is run by the ATIV Editorial team. We are not a large review lab, and we do not pretend to be: our methodology page explains exactly how picks are made and what our scores mean, including their limits. When we get something wrong — a price that changed, a feature that shipped — we update the page and change the date on it.
ATIV currently makes no money from its links: buttons go to vendors' official sites and pay us nothing. If we later join affiliate programs, that relationship will be disclosed on every article and in full on our affiliate disclosure page before the first such link appears. Money will never change our rankings — several of our top picks have no affiliate program at all. If that ever stops being true, the methodology page will say so, because the moment it stops being true this site stops being worth your time.
